The White Bird of Paradise is a bold, architectural plant known for its large, paddle-shaped leaves that fan outward from upright stems. The foliage has a clean, tropical look, with broad, glossy leaves that naturally split over time—adding texture and movement. In its natural habitat, the BOP has evolved to naturally tear along its lateral veins to let strong winds pass preventing it from uprooting. You may observe these splits on the leaves as the plant matures. As it matures, it can reach impressive heights indoors, making it an excellent statement plant for bright rooms and open spaces.
CARE:
- This plant requires quite a bit of light to thrive
- It can tolerate several hours of direct sun daily combined with consistent bright indirect
- Appreciates medium-high humidity, but adaptable to household humidity
- Water when the first 1/3-1/2 of the soil is dry.
- Tends to be a much heavier drinker in the summer months so water accordingly!
