If a list of show-stopping houseplants exists, then the Bird of Paradise plant would most definitely make that list. In the wild, the BOP has evolved to naturally tear along its lateral veins to let strong winds pass. This smaller version is less likely to tear, and it is much easier to maintain as an interior plant!
CARE
- Does best with several hours of direct sun daily and consistent bright indirect lighting
- Maintain medium-high humidity
- Water when the first 1/4-1/3 of the soil is dry
- Ensure that it is planted in a well-draining potting soil
- This plant is a very heavy drinker in our winter months so water accordingly
- Rotate every couple of weeks for proportional growth and to avoid the leaning appearance
