The Fishtail Palm (Caryota mitis) is a striking tropical houseplant known for its unusual, feather-like leaves that resemble a fish’s tail — hence the name! Its lush, bushy appearance gives instant jungle vibes! This plant grows in clumps of slender trunks, each producing a cascade of elegant, jagged-edged leaflets. As the plant matures, it takes on a full, layered look for an especially dramatic appearance.

CARE:

• Prefers bright, indirect light. Gentle direct sunlight, such as morning light, can be beneficial
• Avoid low-light areas or prolonged exposure to harsh midday sun, which can scorch the leaves.
• Keep slightly moist, but not soggy.
• Water when the top 1/4 of the soil feels dry to the touch.
• Reduce watering in winter, but avoid allowing the soil to dry out completely.
• Does best in moderate to high humidity settings. Keep away from heat and AC vents
• This plant can be sensitive to tap water; if possible, use distilled water.
